Reuben Kigame slams Government over challenges facing education sector

Gospel artist and politician Reuben Kigame has slammed the Kenya Kwanza Government over challenges facing the education sector.

Speaking during a  Sunday Service on August 3, 2025 in Nyahururu, Kigame together with teachers union representatives in Nyandarua County said the government was taking education for granted and this will negatively affect the future of many learners.

Kigame noted that the government was playing games with teachers as the recent salary increase was meagre and does not have an impact on their welfare.

Kigame described this as “Conmanship” by the government which should be called out.

He noted that Kenyan youths were calling for good governance and leaders but it was unfortunate that the government was taking on those who criticized bad governance.

Kigame who has also expressed interest to contest for the Presidency in the 2027 General Election, pledged to keep the government on its toes over the crimes it was committing against innocent Kenyans, graft, oppression on opposition among other ills.

Meanwhile, teachers have expressed their dissatisfaction over the salary increment announced by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in line with Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2025 – 2029 deal signed with teachers unions.

Mwalimu Michael Gachohi noted that the majority of teachers are frustrated and bitter after receiving a trivial increment in their July payslips.

According to the teachers, the meagre increment was introduced, taxes ate up part of it, leaving an insignificant net increment.

Now the heat of teachers frustrations is being directed to union officials. Teachers blame the officials for signing a raw deal only to secure more union deductions and not tangible benefits for teachers.
