Ruto and Kindiki donate Ksh10 million to support Betty Bayo’s kids

Kenyan Gospel artist Beatrice Mbugua, popularly known as Betty Bayo, has been laid to rest in Mugumo Estate in Kiambu County.

In a tribute at the funeral service of gospel artist Betty Bayo, Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki announced that he and President William Ruto will contribute KSh 5 million each to support the late musician’s children.

“If that account is created, my family, my wife, and I will contribute five million shillings to help these children,” he said, adding that he is ready to transfer the funds immediately upon receiving account details.

DP Kindiki further revealed that President Ruto had also pledged KSh 5 million towards the children’s education.

“While I was on the way, I called the president and he said he would donate five million shillings to support the children’s education,” he disclosed.

The funeral service was held at the Ndumberi Stadium, in Kiambu County on November 20, 2025.

Speaking to mourners, DP Kindiki made a heartfelt appeal for the establishment of a sustainable support system for artists’ families.

“Please come together and let us establish a big foundation or trust to provide resources to take care of the children of artists and the families of artists so that we don’t have our artists dying in poverty,” he urged.

Calling for solidarity within the artistic community, the Deputy President expressed hope for leadership from artists and musicians themselves.

“I hope there is some leadership that we will get from the artists, from the musicians, we help each other. I don’t want to speak more than that, I just want to thank you all and also for the message of today,” he said.
