President William Ruto ,has dismissed criticism of his former Deputy , Rigathi Gachagua, accusing Gachagua of lacking a constructive agenda and resorting to baseless threats against his administration.
The President’s remarks, delivered during the 10th Annual Dairy Farmers Field Day in Meru County, came a response to Gachagua over the ‘ Wantam’ movement .
Earlier on the president accused Gachagua of being incompetent in the running of the government while heaping praise on his current deputy Prof. Kithure Kindiki saying that he now has a deputy who is Knowledgeable and helps him in delivering to services to the Kenyan people.
Speaking while addressing a gathering of farmers and local leaders, President Ruto adopted a firm stance against what he characterized as “political noise” from leaders failing to offer tangible solutions to national challenges. He vowed to confront such individuals in the 2027 general elections.
“This government is going to continue developing the country, and that is why I will welcome anyone who is willing to work for Kenyans,” President Ruto stated. “But for those who want to campaign, go do that. Won’t we meet them in 2027? How skilled are they, anyway?”
At the same time Ruto dismissed Gachagua’s recent pronouncements, which have increasingly challenged the legitimacy of the current administration.
“They have no agenda whatsoever; they are busy threatening and making noise, but the truth is they stands for nothing meaningful; their only agenda is to incite people with ‘Ruto must go’ chants,” the President asserted.
President Ruto’s comments come in the wake of Gachagua’s escalating critique of the government. The former Deputy President has increasingly positioned himself as a champion of Mount Kenya interests, publicly suggesting he would work to “restore order” within the national leadership structure.
President Ruto further emphasized that effective leadership cannot be predicated on division and threats, highlighting his administration’s ongoing development initiatives.
“You don’t threaten a government with empty rhetoric. Leadership is about ideas, direction, and service to the people, not personal ambition or tribal posturing,” he added.
