President William Ruto has assured ODM supporters and Kenyans that the broad-based government will unite the nation to ensure development in all regions across the country.

While attending a Sunday church service in Migori, President Ruto stated that his working relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga is one of cooperation and not competition.

“There is greater benefit in us collaborating than competing” Ruto said.

Following speculation of a possible fallout between the government and the ODM party within the broad-based government coalition, President William Ruto has assured the public that the government stands united with ODM leader Raila Odinga, and there is no rivalry in leading the nation.

“The commitment we made to ODM to work together is not going to be working together to compete one another.” he added.

The Head of State emphasized that the government will ensure equitable development across all regions, aimed at boosting the country’s economic growth and uplifting communities. Sentiments echoed by Finance Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.

“We must have economic rights. We appreciate what leaders who are ahead of us have done.” CS Obado stated.

Leaders who accompanied President Ruto to the church service in Migori including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Senator Oburu Odinga, and Tom Ojienda highlighted the importance of unity and equitable development in all regions.

However, the recent criticism from Siaya Governor James Orengo and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has raised questions about internal disagreements within the party.

An unwelcome highlight of the trip was an incident in which the president was targeted in a shoe throwing incident, where the projectile narrowly missed his head after he swatted it away midspeech.

Reports indicate that 3 people have been arrested in connection to the incident and are held at the Kuria West police station.
