Ruto hosts Rising Stars: National Music Festival winners celebrate at Sagana State Lodge, Nyeri

The final act of the 97th Kenya National Music Festival is in full swing today as President William Ruto warmly hosts the competition’s top performers at Sagana State Lodge, Nyeri County.

The week-long cultural celebration began on August 4 in Meru County, with entrants from pre-schools, primary, secondary schools, TVET institutions, colleges, and universities across all 47 counties.

Now, as the festival reaches its crescendo, champions are being feted in an elegant state concert honoring their artistic excellence.

This year’s festival champions have dazzled audiences with vibrant displays of Kenya’s rich cultural heritage, from Akamba Kilumi and Nandi folk dances to performances representing pastoralist cultures and inclusive renditions by special needs institutions.

President Ruto took the stage to celebrate the musicianship and dedication of the youth, expressing pride in the role the festival plays in fostering unity and nurturing national identity through creative expression.

His historic engagement with past music festivals underscores his support for elevating Kenya’s cultural scene.

As the nation applauds the next generation of talent, this State Concert serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Kenya National Music Festival, an institution that continues to enrich Kenya’s cultural tapestry and empower its emerging artists.
