President William Ruto has arrived for the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology grounds.
Ruto was accompanied by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo.
The President was welcomed by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Chief of Defense Forces General Charles Kahariri, and other top military officers.
Meanwhile, Raila’s family members including Mama Ida Odinga, Senator Oburu Odinga, Ruth Odinga, Rosemary Odinga, Winnie Odinga, and Raila Junior Odinga arrived before President Ruto.
People’s Liberation Party Leader Martha Karua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAPK Party leader Eugene Wamalwa and former Interior CS Fred Matiangi are opposition leaders present for the service.
At the same time, former Ugandan Prime Minister Ruhakana Ruganda has also arrived at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOST).
Several dignitaries, who include Cabinet Secretaries, Senators and Members of Parliament, have trooped in to attend the final funeral service.
Cabinet secretaries Aden Duale (Health), Opiyo Wanday (Energy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and SMEs), Hassan Joho (Mining), Davis Chirchir (Infrastructure), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and Defense CS Soipan Tuya have arrived.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and his senate counterpart Amason Kingi are also present.
Others are National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa and Minority Leader Junet Mohammed and Senators Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi) and Prof. Tom Ojienda (Kisumu).
Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo and Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo are among the dignitaries who have arrived to pay their last respect to Raila.
Head of Public Service Felix Koskei and former Chief Justice David Maraga are also present.
Governors Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Fernandes Barasa (Kakamega), Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma), Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili are among dignitaries present.
COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli is also attending Raila’s State Funeral.
