Nairobi residents will now access land valuation and rates enquiry services closer to their neighborhoods following a new directive by the county government to devolve the services to sub-counties.

In a notice dated March 13, 2026, the Nairobi City County Government said the move is aimed at improving efficiency, reducing congestion at central offices, and enhancing service delivery across the city.

According to Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson, the decision is intended to streamline land management services and ensure timely assistance to residents seeking valuation and rates-related support.

“Under the new arrangement, services will be offered at several sub-county customer care centres, including Ruai, Dandora, Makadara, Umoja I, and Embakasi East. Residents can now visit these centres for land valuation and rates payment enquiries without having to travel to City Hall,” Sakaja confirmed.

Additionally, the county has expanded access by allowing general enquiries at Huduma Centres located in Makadara, Eastleigh, and Kibera, further decentralizing services to meet growing demand.

The Governor says the initiative will not only bring services closer to the people but also decongest central offices and improve turnaround times.

“We encourage residents to take advantage of the newly established service points to access faster and more convenient assistance,” he continued

Sakaja added that the move is expected to address land-related challenges in Nairobi and bring services closer to the people.
