Salasya promises to cover three months’ rent for Harambee Stars’ goalkeeper Omondi

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has pledged to cover Harambee Stars goalkeeper Bryne Omondi’s rent for three months as a reward for his outstanding performance in the team’s 1-0 victory over Morocco.

Salasya made the promise on his social media accounts, praising Omondi’s composure and competence during the crucial Group A clash at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.

“I will reward the Harambee Stars goalkeeper by paying for his house rent for three months,” Salasya’s post read, offering to pay up to KSh 150,000 depending on the monthly rent.

“He is my man of the match. Very composed and knows his work. Let us congratulate the Harambee Stars goalkeeper, as others will eat from the State House, for me and the goalkeeper, it’s just rent.”

Kenya’s powerful performance against the African football giants stunned many sports pundits, who had considered the Harambee Stars as the underdogs in the “group of death.”

The victory was a result of a strong campaign that has seen Kenya remain unbeaten so far in the tournament, with two wins and one draw, putting them at the summit of Group A with seven points.

The national team is now just a point away from securing a historic spot in the quarter-finals as they prepare for their final group fixture against Zambia.

The highly anticipated match, scheduled for Sunday, August 17, has already seen some logistical challenges.

On Monday, CAF had suspended the sale of tickets due to security breaches witnessed during the previous match but has since reopened sales, capping the number of tickets at 27,000 from an initial 38,000 to ensure safety.

All roads are expected to lead to Kasarani as Kenya fights for a chance to make history and advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
