Sammie Kioko and sister camp outside Machakos County offices demanding KSh19 million payment

Entrepreneur and comedian Sammie Kioko captured public attention yet again after posting a video on social media showing him and his sister outside the Machakos County offices.

Kioko revealed that his sister spent the sleepless night camping outside Machakos County headquarters in a bid for him to receive an outstanding payment of KSh19 million allegedly owed to them by the county government.

Taking to social media after exhausting all other options, Kioko made an appeal directly to Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, calling out her silence on the matter.

“To the Governor, your silence is loud. She (Kioko’s sister) has been at your office gate for 12 hours with no one to help or listen to her. I’ve exhausted all avenues to reach you, now I’m forced to use social media,” he wrote.

The frustrated comedian revealed that he and his sister have endured endless meetings and empty promises from county officials, pleading for honesty instead of continued delays.

“Please let your people tell us the truth. The endless meetings and empty promises have drained us. The truth may hurt, but it’s what we need,” Kioko stated.

He also thanked the security officers at the gate who offered his sister safety and understanding during her ordeal, while calling out those who came to intimidate and chase them away, telling them to stop their circus.

“We forgive and understand those who came to threaten and chase us away in the name of ‘Toeni Sarakasi hapa’. She desperately needs help not intimidation,” he added.

The situation has become particularly dire as Kioko has reportedly been forced to shut down his business.

“My tailoring business completely collapsed,” he said, revealing that he was forced to shut down operations, lay off employees, and watch years of work go down the drain.

Kioko’s sister has been camping outside the Governor’s office but has never gotten an assistance.

“Inauma sana. She is stranded outside the Governor’s office gate Please, if anyone can assist or knows someone who can, it would mean the world. she is stressed, depressed and hopeless with no Energy to start Again,” Kioko wrote, sharing a screenshot from a concerned individual who has been seeing the sister outside the Governor’s office.

Speaking during an interview with Oga Obinna last year, Kioko further disclosed that the financial strain left him unable to meet rent obligations or cover medical expenses for his ailing sister.

Despite this critical need, the Machakos County Government has not honoured its financial obligation.

Fellow comedian MCA Tricky expressed his sympathy in the comments, writing, “Oooh noo, this is too much pain now.”

The post sparked outrage among Kenyans online, with many criticizing the celebrity community for not rallying behind one of their own.

One user commented that celebrities are quick to help strangers online but draw the line when it comes to supporting fellow entertainers.

“All celebrities should call for Kenyans to show up just one day in that office and you’ll see that money being found,” the user suggested.

Another pointed out that comedian Chipukeezy, who works in government and is also from Machakos County, has remained silent on the issue despite being in the same industry as Kioko.

The entrepreneur and comedian has been sharing reflective messages on his Instagram Stories, seemingly capturing the emotional and financial weight of this prolonged struggle.
