Kenyan star Savara Mudigi will headline the Closing Ceremony of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024, set for Saturday, 30 August, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
He will perform alongside Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Tanzania’s Zuchu, with the event beginning at 14:00.
The final of the tournament will then follow at 18:00, featuring Morocco against Madagascar. Morocco, two-time champions, are chasing a record third crown, while Madagascar are aiming to complete a fairytale run by winning their first-ever continental trophy.
The island nation defeated Sudan 1-0 in the semifinal, while Morocco edged Senegal on penalties.
For Kenya, the spotlight will be on Savara, a founding member of Sauti Sol who has also built a successful solo career.
His performance is expected to showcase Kenya’s musical pride as the host nation, sharing the stage with fellow East African stars Kenzo and Zuchu.
According to CAF, the Closing Ceremony will celebrate the cultures of the three co-host nations Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as the curtain falls on this historic edition of the tournament.
The final is also expected to be graced by top dignitaries including FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Kenya’s President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, and FKF President Hussein Mohammed.
Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina is also expected to attend.
