Section of parties reject Azimio Coalition leadership changes effected by Uhuru Kenyatta

A section of parties allied to the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party are crying foul over changes made to the leadership of the party.

Led by the National Liberal Party and the United Democratic Party, the parties allege that the meeting said to have been convened by Azimio Council Chairperson, Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, was largely secretive and included parties that had already expressed intention to exit Azimio.

While citing the said changes an act of political deceit, the parties now want the Registrar of Political Parties to arrive at the decision that the resolutions are null and void, and that the registrar provides with the minutes of the said meeting, the status of membership and the deed of agreement.

In the new changes, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi is the new Azimio Secretary-General, replacing Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who has been ousted from the coalition party.

Former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia will take up the role of Executive Director, taking Raphael Tuju’s role in Azimio coalition.

The resolutions have since been communicated to the Registrar of Police Parties John Loronokou.
