Speaker Amason Kingi’s bodyguard is dead

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi is mourning the sudden death of his bodyguard, Corporal John Lwane Lumumba, who passed away on January 1, 2026, shortly after they had been together.

The Speaker expressed his deep grief and shock over the loss in an emotional tribute posted on his social media platform.

Kingi revealed that the death came without warning, describing how quickly tragedy struck. “Gone too soon my young brother. The cruel hand of death has snatched you so fast,” he wrote. He recounted that they had been walking together and chatting happily, only for him to receive a phone call moments later informing him that his bodyguard had died.

“One minute we are having a walk and chatting jovially and the next minute I’m called to be informed that you are no more,” Kingi shared.

In his tribute, Kingi emphasized that Corporal Lumumba was more than just a security detail assigned to protect him.

“To me you were not just a bodyguard, you were family,” Kingi stated, indicating that their bond transcended professional boundaries.

The Senate Speaker praised Corporal Lumumba’s character and work ethic, highlighting the qualities that made him stand out in his role.

“I admired the way you discharged your duty with utmost dedication, professionalism and loyalty,” Kingi wrote.

Kingi concluded his message with a simple but heartfelt farewell: “RIP Cpl. John Lwane LUMUMBA.”
