Seven police officers were injured after an explosion hit their vehicle along Gadudia-Laga Road between Aresa and Khalalia in Mandera East.
The officers were travelling in a police car from Bambo to Mandera on July 8, 2025 at 1 am when the vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
According to the police report, the injured officers were later evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Police reported that the vehicle was severely damaged during the incident.
The area is near the porous Kenya-Somalia border, which the militants usually breach.
However, police said a multi-agency team had been dispatched to the region to pursue the millitants.
In addition, National Police Service spokesman Michael Muchiri said they are making efforts to address the menace that has persisted despite previous attempts to address similar attacks in the region.
