The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) rebel leaders attended the party’s Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting that was chaired by Party Leader Oburu Oginga at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Tuesday March 3, 2026.

The PG meeting was held at a time when rebel party members declared their allegiance to embattled Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, laying bare the party’s deepening internal rifts.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi are key figures in the “Linda Mwananchi” faction who attended the meeting at Parliament Buildings.

Also present was Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Ombane.

The meeting was chaired by ODM party leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga amid growing rivalry between the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ and ‘Linda Ground’ factions within the party.

The PG resolved to support negotiations with UDA in preparations for the 2027 general elections. 

In addition the PG endorsed a proposal to have the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) on March 27, 2026. 

The Linda Mwanainchi faction has been traversing western Kenya and parts of Nairobi, positioning itself as a grassroots movement aimed at protecting the voice of the ordinary citizen.

Led by Sifuna, the group has openly criticised what it views as a softening of opposition politics and resisted cooperation discussions with the ruling party, UDA ahead of 2027.

On the other hand, the Linda Ground campaign, associated with Oburu Odinga has focused on consolidating grassroots structures while keeping strategic options open ahead of the 2027 general election. 

Its backers argue that structured engagement and coalition-building are necessary to strengthen ODM’s national bargaining power. 

The presence of the rebel legislators at the PG meeting has fueled debate over whether the rival camps are seeking a truce or simply flexing muscle within formal party structures.

Meanwhile, the Linda Mwananchi tours have drawn attention in ODM strongholds, where debate over the party’s direction has intensified.
