Sifuna’s convoy truck stoned in Kisumu on way to Kakamega rally

A convoy truck linked to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi faction was stoned this morning at Kona Mbaya trading centre in Kisumu County while heading to Kakamega for a rally set for Saturday, February 21.

Footage posted by Sifuna on social media captures the moment panic ensued inside the vehicle as stones rained down on the multimillion-shilling sound truck, which was donated to support the ongoing grassroots mobilization tour.

The truck, carrying campaign equipment, was part of a larger convoy traveling from Nairobi through western Kenya. No casualties were reported from the attack, and the group continued their journey despite the disruption.

The attack comes amid heightened political friction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and broader tensions in opposition circles.

The Linda Mwananchi tour, is led by Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti’s Caleb Amisi and Siaya governor James Orengo.

The faction has faced many challenges, including the violent dispersal of a previous rally in Kitengela on February 15, where police fired teargas, live bullets were allegedly heard, and one person (Vincent Ayomo) was fatally shot, sparking protests and outrage.

Security has been heightened ahead of the Kakamega rally, with calls for calm to prevent further escalation. Sifuna has repeatedly framed the tour as a push for accountability and people-centered politics, vowing resilience in the face of disruptions.
