Al Hilal have secured a major boost by appointing Simone Inzaghi as their new head coach ahead of the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The 49-year-old Italian, fresh off a highly successful four-year tenure at Internazionale Milano, has been tasked with leading the Saudi Arabian giants in Group H, where they will face football powerhouses Real Madrid C.F., FC Salzburg, and CF Pachuca.
Inzaghi expressed enthusiasm about his new role, highlighting his familiarity with Arab football.
“I know Al Hilal well, thanks to my constant following of Arab football, especially after my previous visits to the Kingdom while managing Lazio and Inter Milan,” he said.
“My goals with Al Hilal are clear: to win titles, play entertaining football, and implement my style based on speed, intensity and determination.”
During his time at Inter Milan, Inzaghi amassed an impressive trophy haul, including the 2023/24 Serie A title and reaching two UEFA Champions League finals.
His tactical prowess was on full display as he orchestrated victories over European giants FC Bayern München and Barcelona en route to the Champions League semi-finals.
At Al Hilal, Inzaghi inherits a star-studded squad featuring key players such as goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Joao Cancelo, midfielders Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and forwards Aleksandar Mitrovic and Marcos Leonardo.
The club boasts a rich history with four Asian championships and recently made waves by upsetting CR Flamengo to reach the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final in 2022, followed by a thrilling 5-3 match against Real Madrid.
