Six suspects were arrested on July 21, 2025, over shooting of a police officer on June 18, 2025, at the Thika and Garissa road interchange.
This was after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) carried out an investigation which led them to a hideout in Kahawa West where they arrested Joseph Ngotho Karanja, Benjamin Kambo Mwangi, Athanase Ndacaisaba, Kelvin Mbilika Ollingo, and Samuel Omurambi.
The sixth suspect, Philip Muiruri Muchiri, was captured in Kiamumbi area.
At the same time, detectives seized a vehicle with registration number KDQ 529W, used by the suspects in committing the crime.
The six suspects were arraigned before the Thika Law Courts on Monday, where detectives secured a 21-day custodial order, allowing for an extensive investigation.
The case will be heard briefly on August 11, 2025.
