Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has once again taken center stage on the global humanitarian platform after receiving two prestigious awards in recognition of his philanthropic work and tireless efforts to uplift the lives of vulnerable populations.

In two separate ceremonies held at his Upper Hill office, Sonko was feted for his enduring commitment to peace, civility, and humanitarian values.

The first honor, the Civility Voice Diplomats Global Humanitarian Award, was presented by Dr. Edina Kangwana of the Lead Vetting Committee and Ambassador Dominic Obadiah, President and Founder of Civility Voice Diplomats (CVD).

The award applauded Sonko’s “unwavering dedication to promoting peace, civility, and humanitarian values globally.”

The second accolade, the I Change Nations Builders In Action Legacy Award, was conferred by the Builders in Action, recognizing Sonko’s “selfless sacrifices in time and resources to improve lives.” The award was presented by Dr. Reuben West, ICN Special Envoy, and Dr. Clyde Rivers, ICN President.

“I extend my sincere gratitude for this recognition,I remain committed to supporting underprivileged communities and driving change where it is most needed.”Sonko said

These new honors add to a growing list of accolades Sonko has received over the years for his humanitarian endeavors:
• In 2019, the European Digital University awarded him an honorary degree for community goodwill.
• He received the Milan Pact Award in France for a food insecurity early warning tool.
• He was recognized by the U.S.-based No End To Love organization for rescuing a toddler after a tragic fire in Mathare.
• Sonko was named East African Humanitarian Personality of the Year for his work with the Sonko Rescue Team (SRT).
• The World Peace and Diplomacy Organization honored him with the World Peace Messenger Award in Los Angeles.
• He was made an honorary member of the International Police Association and appointed Good Deeds Goodwill Ambassador in Kenya.

The philanthropist, known for combining grassroots outreach with global influence, continues to draw attention for blending political activism with hands-on humanitarian work.

As his awards cabinet grows heavier, Sonko maintains that the recognition only fuels his drive to do more.
