Former Nairobi Governor and Good Deeds Ambassador Mike Mbuvi Sonko has once again demonstrated his philanthropic side by extending a helping hand to pupils of Kikoko Primary School in Makueni County.
Sonko’s gesture came after a chance encounter at the beginning of the month while returning from an event at Precious Girls Kilungu High School. Along the way, he came across several young pupils from Kikoko Primary who were on their way home. Disturbed by their condition with one girl dressed in a torn uniform and another carrying a tattered school bag Sonko felt compelled to take immediate action.
“I decided to buy a new pair of uniforms for the girl and a bag for the other girl,” Sonko shared. “Later, I realised that a big number of pupils in the same school face the same challenge.”

True to his word, Sonko made a return visit to the school, bearing an array of gifts for the students and teachers. All 430 pupils received brand-new school bags and geometrical sets. Girls were provided with sanitary towels to last them the entire term a major boost to menstrual hygiene and school attendance. Teachers also received tokens of appreciation.
Additionally, Sonko announced that new school uniforms for underprivileged pupils have been ordered and will be delivered in due course. He also pledged to address the school’s ongoing water challenges by financing the drilling of a borehole, following a request from school officials.
“As a leader and a Good Deeds Ambassador, I believe that a promise is a debt. I had to return and fulfil it,” Sonko affirmed.
He promised to make another visit to deliver the school uniforms once they are ready, underscoring his commitment to improving the welfare of students in rural areas.
This initiative adds to Sonko’s long list of philanthropic efforts, particularly in education and community development, as he continues to use his platform to uplift vulnerable communities across the country.
