Police officers have arrested one suspect and recovered a large consignment of illegal substances in a recent crackdown targeting drug and alcohol-related crimes in Nairobi.
In an operation conducted on July 21, 2025, the Nairobi Regional Operations Team stormed a location along Jogoo Road, where they seized 200 kilograms of cannabis (bhang) and 100 litres of chang’aa.
The illegal goods were secured as evidence, and the suspect is currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
According to the police, the operation is part of a broader campaign aimed at stamping out narcotics and illicit brews within the capital city.
“The National Police Service (NPS) reaffirms its commitment to combating illicit drugs and brews, as well as protecting communities through sustained enforcement and proactive policing,” read part of a police statement.
NPS emphasized that such operations will be intensified to ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens, especially in areas that have been identified as drug hotspots.
Authorities have further urged the public to support the efforts by providing timely information that can lead to the disruption of illegal supply chains.
The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, will be charged once investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, police warned that anyone found dealing in or possessing illegal substances will face the full force of the law.
