A suspected drug trafficker has been arrested in Kibaoni, Kilifi North Sub-County, following a successful police operation that was triggered by information from concerned members of the public.

According to a report by the National Police Service, officers from Kilifi Police Station swiftly responded to the tip-off and laid an ambush in the area.

Their efforts paid off when the suspect was apprehended.

“Acting on the intelligence, the officers set up an ambush at Kibaoni and successfully arrested the suspect,” the police confirmed.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of a nylon packet containing eleven sachets of a substance suspected to be heroin. In addition, officers found Ksh 800 on the suspect, believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.

The suspect is currently being held at Kilifi Police Station, where he is awaiting formal processing and arraignment. The recovered exhibits have also been secured at the same facility as investigations continue.

Commending the public’s role in the operation, the National Police Service expressed appreciation for the cooperation shown in tackling crime.

“We commend members of the public for their continued cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and other crimes,” read the statement in part.
