In a significant win against crime, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Likoni have recovered a firearm believed to have been used in a series of violent robberies plaguing the coastal region.
A 27-year-old man, Paul Odhiambo Magoya, was arrested following a sting operation within Mariakani. Police raided his room at Prestige Guest House, where a CZ pistol was found concealed at his bed.
The firearm has since been submitted for ballistic examination at the National Forensic Laboratory.
In a separate but equally crucial development, officers from the National Police Service at Kabete Police Station have successfully recovered an AK 47 rifle that was stolen from Dagoretti Police Post during the June 25, 2025 demonstrations.
The breakthrough came after police received a tip-off about a suspicious individual carrying a bulging bag at Gravity Bar in Gahui area.
Responding swiftly, officers converged on the establishment and, utilizing forensic leads, identified the suspect. The trail then led officers to the suspect’s residence in Njuki-Kirigu area.
However, the suspect managed to evade arrest, vanishing upon spotting the approaching officers. A subsequent search of his home, conducted in the presence of his mother, yielded the stolen AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a single round of 7.62mm special ammunition.
All recovered items were confirmed to have been stolen from Dagoretti Police Post. These two incidents highlight the ongoing efforts by Kenyan law enforcement to curb armed crime and recover illicit firearms across the country.
