“Take Him to His Father!” – Mulamwah’s Son stops crying after week-long episode, sparking cultural debate

Fans are buzzing with amazement after comedian Mulamwah shared a peaceful video of his son Calvin playing happily, just hours after the child’s mother Ruth K revealed the boy had been crying inconsolably for over a week.

The dramatic turnaround has left many saying “we told you so” and sparked fascinating discussions about cultural beliefs.

The situation began when Ruth K took to Instagram to share her distress over Calvin’s condition.

“Lately a lot has been happening. My boy has been crying nonstop, for almost 8 days. No eating, no sleeping, this has been the toughest season of life. My 2025 ended with sadness and 2026 began with the same mood. This video is just a percentage of what we have been going through. As a parent this has really broken my heart. We have visited the best hospitals in Nairobi for checkups but unfortunately no illness has been found,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

The video showing Calvin crying uncontrollably quickly attracted thousands of comments, with many followers suggesting one specific solution.

Comments like ‘Mtoto mluhya, huyu akipelekwa Kitale atanyamaza once’ and ‘just take to the father, will be ok’ flooded her post, with fans referencing the cultural significance of Luhya heritage.

Ruth eventually took Calvin to Mulamwah, and the results were remarkable.

The comedian shared a video showing a calm, happy Calvin playing with him.

“God is great, the boy is home, ashafika. Calvo is fine, alikuwa amenimiss tu. Boys day it is,” Mulamwah wrote.

Ruth confirmed the dramatic change in her son’s behavior.

“Calvo is now okay. I hear he has eaten very well after fasting a whole week. I hope he is at peace now and he will sleep peacefully,” Ruth said.

She added with humor, “Kijana ya kwao. Vitu zingine mnafaa kunichanua mapema.”

Mulamwah expressed his relief, saying, “Happy new year from this side, God is great. He is fine. Mjamaa amefika home, amechangamka. Ilikuwa missment tu, nothing much.”

The incident caught the attention of fellow comedian Eddie Butita, who decided to offer his perspective on the situation.

Taking to Instagram, Butita provided what he called a “Luhya masterclass” explaining the cultural beliefs surrounding male children and their connection to ancestral lands. His explanation resonated with many people who have witnessed similar situations.

“The ancestors, once in a while, usually need assurance that their bloodline is present, that whoever was tasked to continue the bloodline is around. That’s why unapata mtoto kijana atasumbua mpaka akanyage kwa soil yao ya home,” Butita explained.

According to him, this phenomenon is particularly common when a male child is named after someone from the paternal bloodline, creating a spiritual connection that needs to be honored.

Butita went further to describe the traditional remedy for such situations.

“How do you treat this? In some cases you have to ensure ukona mchanga ya kutoka kwa kina kijana. Ngori kama hii ikitokea saa zingine, unamguzisha mchanga ama anarusha kwa maji kidogo anaoga nayo, so that the bloodline can know the ‘King’ is present and has not disappered,” Butita said.

The story has generated massive engagement across social media, with fans sharing similar experiences and debating the intersection of cultural beliefs and modern parenting.

Whether attributed to ancestral connections, comfort of paternal presence, or simply missing his dad, the outcome has left everyone relieved.

Mulamwah concluded with gratitude, writing, “Wishing you good health our son,” as both parents focus on ensuring Calvin continues to thrive in their co-parenting journey.
