Tanzanian artist Ibraah has weighed in on the ongoing tensions in Kenya following the tragic death of Albert Ojwang, offering a heartfelt message to Kenyan Gen Zs during a recent media tour in Nairobi.
Speaking on Radio 47’s popular Baze47 show hosted by Manucho, Ibraah acknowledged the deep emotions surrounding Ojwang’s death but called on young people to prioritize peace in their pursuit of justice and change.
“Unajua Gen Zs ni watu wenye kicheche sana! Wajue amani ni kitu cha muhimu sana,” Ibraah said.
“Tuzingatie sana amani. Bila amani, hamna chochote.” He added.
His comments come at a time when Kenya’s youth, particularly Gen Z, have been vocal online and on the streets, demanding accountability and answers following Ojwang’s controversial death, a case that has sparked national outcry.
While acknowledging their passion and courage, Ibraah emphasized that meaningful change must be rooted in peace, warning that chaos only delays progress.
The artist, known for hits like “Nani” and collaborations across East Africa, has a strong Gen Z following and said he hopes to use his platform to encourage positive dialogue and regional unity.
Kenyans have reacted to his message with mixed responses, with some appreciating his call for calm, while others feel the urgency of justice outweighs silence.
