The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced more than 9,000 job openings to replace educators who have left the public service through natural attrition.
In the recruitment notice released in November 2025, the commission said it is seeking to fill 9,159 positions across primary, junior and secondary schools. Primary schools account for the largest share with 7,065 slots, followed by 2,082 positions in secondary schools and 12 posts in junior schools.
All successful applicants will be hired on permanent and pensionable terms, a move expected to offer long-term job security to new entrants.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens and must already be registered with the TSC.
For primary school vacancies, the minimum requirement is a P1 certificate. For junior and secondary school roles, candidates must hold a Diploma in Education.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to present their original academic and professional certificates during interviews. The commission noted that submitting more than one employment form will lead to disqualification.
The entire recruitment process will be conducted online, with TSC directing applicants to submit their applications through its website by midnight, December 8, 2025. Manual applications will not be accepted.
Selections will be guided by the 2025/2026 Financial Year Recruitment Guidelines, with merit being the primary basis for placement.
TSC cautioned that candidates should be ready for deployment anywhere in the country, noting that successful applicants may not necessarily be posted to their preferred counties or schools. The commission said postings will be based on staffing needs across the country.
It also warned against recruitment fraud, reminding applicants that the process is free of charge and urging them to avoid individuals purporting to influence hiring.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to equal opportunity employment and encouraged persons with disabilities to apply.
Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously worked under the Teachers Service Commission.
