Julius Kirwa, the Head Coach for Team Kenya at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, has been recognized for his exceptional leadership by being named the SJAK Coach of the Month for September.
Kirwa’s guidance proved pivotal in Tokyo, where he steered Team Kenya to a spectacular haul of 11 medals: seven gold, two silver, and two bronze, securing a second-place finish in the medal standings behind the United States.
Meanwhile, the triumphant team was hosted for breakfast by President William Ruto at State House Nairobi. The President commended the athletes, noting their achievement places Kenya in “the league of champions and excellence.”
In recognition of their heroic efforts, President Ruto announced the immediate disbursement of KSh 27 million to the medallists in line with the established cash reward structure.
Gold Medallists will each receive KSh 3 million, Silver Medallists are entitled to KSh 2 million apiece, and Bronze Medallists will be rewarded with KSh 1 million each.
Furthermore, the government pledged to support every medallist by paying half the cost of an affordable house of their choice.
