A strong contingent of 47 Kenyan athletes is set to depart for Abeokuta, Nigeria, on Monday, July 14, to compete in the 3rd edition of the CAA Africa Under-18 and Under-20 Combined Athletics Championships.
The championships, running from July 16 to 20, 2025, promise to be a thrilling showcase of Africa’s emerging athletics talent.
The team received their official kit on Sunday, July 13, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in a ceremony graced by Athletics Kenya Youth Chairman Barnaba Korir.

Korir exuded confidence in the young squad, highlighting their rigorous preparation and dedication.
Leading the charge will be sprint sensation Clinton Aluvi, competing in the 100m and 200m, and the immensely talented Joyline Jepkemoi, the 2023 Africa U18 1,500m silver medallist.
Both athletes, named team captains, expressed the collective motivation and readiness to deliver stellar performances for Kenya.

Head Coach Robert Ngisirei affirmed that the team’s technical skills have been finely honed, with a clear focus on securing multiple podium finishes.
This meticulous preparation has been further bolstered by inspiring words from none other than Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala.
The two-time African and Commonwealth 100m champion, himself a former national team captain, urged the aspiring stars to maintain their focus on both their athletic pursuits and academic endeavors.
With a blend of seasoned junior athletes and promising new faces, Team Kenya is geared up to leave an indelible mark on the continental stage, reaffirming our nation’s rich heritage in athletics. The nation watches with bated breath as our young warriors prepare to conquer Abeokuta.
