Grief engulfed Nzeluni in Mwingi West, Kitui County as relatives, friends and villagers gathered to lay to rest Justus Wambua, his wife, and their daughter.
According to family members, a similar tragedy had struck the home before. Early last year, the couple’s last-born daughter passed away, a loss that deeply affected Wambua.
Devastated, he vowed never to return to the city and instead chose to remain in the village to watch over his daughter’s grave.
Two weeks ago, Wambua tried calling his wife and their first-born daughter repeatedly for three days, but none of his calls were answered.
Worried, he decided to travel to their home in Saika to check on them. Upon arrival, he was met with the shock of finding their lifeless bodies. Overwhelmed by the tragedy, he also took his own life.
Nelson Nguna, the area chief said the burial of three family members at the same time was a huge blow to the community, urging locals to seek assistance from local authorities or professional counselors in case of life challenges.
The three were laid to rest at their family home in Nzatani, Mwingi West, Kitui County.
