The Equitable Party ‘TEP’ which was registered at the office of the registrar of political parties under the leadership of Dr Gilbert Shanga is now advocating for introduction of a fully electronic voting system in Kenya.
This comes at a crucial time when the newly nominated Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners are set to be vetted in the National Assembly.
According to Doctor Shanga, the system which has succeeded in Nigeria, South Africa and Namibia will bring back Kenyans trust in the electoral process.
He cited examples from the 2022 general elections when the manual system was accommodated, resulting in the lack of accountability on the final tally.
The TEP party leader explained that the electronic voting process allows use of modern high-end tech devices to cast, count votes and declare winners in a short period of time.
