The five regions to experience heavy rainfall this week – Kenya Met

The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly forecast for the period between September 30 and October 6, 2025, indicating that several parts of the country will experience rainfall while others remain largely dry.

According to the update, rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of Northwestern Kenya.

The department has also warned that isolated heavy rainfall events may occur in some of these areas, urging residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

In contrast, much of Northeastern Kenya, including Marsabit, Mandera, and Garissa, is likely to remain generally dry throughout the week.

Southeastern counties such as Kitui and Machakos will also experience mainly dry conditions, though a few isolated showers may be recorded later in the week.

Along the Coast, residents in counties like Mombasa, Kilifi, and Lamu should expect sunny intervals interspersed with occasional morning showers.

The forecast notes that the coastal region could also experience periods of light rainfall during the week.

The department emphasized the importance of preparing for potential impacts of the expected weather.

Farmers in the rainy regions are encouraged to take advantage of the showers to boost agricultural activities, while communities in flood-prone areas are advised to remain cautious in case of sudden heavy downpours.

The forecast also serves as a reminder for Kenyans to stay updated on daily advisories, as conditions may shift quickly.

With the short rains season approaching, the Meteorological Department continues to monitor weather patterns closely and will issue alerts when necessary.

This week’s forecast highlights Kenya’s diverse climatic conditions, with some regions bracing for downpours while others remain under dry and sunny spells.
