A day after the death of blogger and social media Influencer Albert Ojwang, Kapseret Constituency Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi issued a statement, lamenting about the death.
In a statement shared on his X account, Sudi urged security agencies to move fast in the investigations and ensure the culprits are arrested.
“As a parent, the news of the death of Albert Ojwang has left me speechless. I can’t imagine the pain his family is going through now,” Sudi posted on his X account, on Monday June 9, 2025.
“Security agencies must move fast and take appropriate action against culprits. This administration vowed to end mysterious killings and has made great steps, but it seems there are a few weak links taking us back.”
Albert Ojwang died under mysterious circumstances at the Central Police Station in Nairobi, moments after the DCI arrested him over a social media post.
Albert was picked up by DCI officers in Kakot, Homa Bay County on Saturday June 7, 2025 in the afternoon over a post he allegedly made on X. They later drove him to Nairobi, where he was detained at the Central Police station.
However, when his family got to the police station to follow up the case, they found Albert dead.
The National Police Service initially claimed Ojwang hit his head against the cell wall, but later Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, revised the statement, claiming Ojwang was found unconscious in his cell.
However, Ojwang’s family lawyer, who viewed the body, cast doubt on the official police account that the influencer was simply found unconscious in his cell, as he also revealed the deceased had blood oozing from his nose.
Albert Ojwang’s mysterious death has caused an uproar in the country with Kenyans demanding answers on what exactly caused his death.
