“There are people saying June 25th protests were very successful, really?”- Dr Ruto

President William Ruto has responded to protesters of the June 25th nationwide protests. Speaking at the celebration of the World MSME Day that took place in Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

“I have tried to listen to the people organising the demonstrations. They have said they love Kenya but hate the leaders, they have said something about one term and they have said Ruto must go. If you truly love Kenya as you say, don’t burn your country,” said President Ruto.

“If you hate your leaders, I want to tell you hate brings conflict, conflict brings violence, violence is not a solution for unemployment and other challenges the nation is facing,” added President Ruto.

“If your strategy is anchored in hate for leaders, how are you going to provide a solution for the nation? People think it is fashionable to go to the streets take selfies and post on social media.”

He warned businesspeople that if this protest trend continues, shops in Kileleshwa, Lavington and Karen will be looted just like in Nairobi CBD (Downtown).

“If you want Ruto to go, look for a better plan, mine has created 250,000 jobs in the housing sector, look for one that creates 500,000. I have brought down the price of unga from KSh 240 to KSh 160, look for a plan that brings it to KSh 50.”

Violence and anarchy will not sort out our country, let us not fool ourselves. You cannot replace a plan that is working with no plans. If you persuade us with a plan, I can go and concentrate on farming.”

“We had many people with jobs on 24th, on 25th their jobs went up in flames and they are people who are telling us 25th was very successful, really? It was successful? With people having died, so many people hurt and many businesses destroyed. Was it really successful?” He concluded.
