Police officers from Nairobi Region Sierra Team on Friday, June 13 evening conducted an intelligence-led operation along Tsavo Street in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), in a bid to flush out notorious criminals.
During the operation, three suspects, Jeremiah Njoroge, Michael Chege, and Simon Macharia, were arrested, and 75 mobile phones, seven computers, one microscope, and 25 Universal Flashing Interface (UFI) gadgets were recovered.
Police say the suspects will be charged with illegally unlocking mobile phones and interfering with their functionality, and handling suspected stolen phones.
For now, the trio is in custody at Kware Police Station, as investigations continue, pending arraignment in court.
Following this incident, the National Police Service (NPS) has cautioned Kenyans against involvement in mobile phone theft and illegal flashing of stolen phones.
“The National Police Service (NPS) warns the public against involvement in mobile phone theft syndicates and the illegal trade of flashing stolen phones, and advises them to avoid buying devices from unauthorised dealers,” NPS says.
