Police in Kirinyaga East have taken into custody three individuals linked to the killing of Jackline Waruguru Kathuri, whose body was discovered on 22 November 2025 in Ninga-ini village within Kirinyaga East Sub-County.
The discovery was made after Kiamutugu Police Station received an emergency report about a body found in the locality.
Officers who responded to the scene found the victim with extensive burn injuries, missing body parts including her right upper arm and breast, as well as head trauma.
The remains were subsequently transferred to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for storage and post-mortem examination.
Investigators immediately initiated a search for those responsible. Using forensic evidence, they apprehended the primary suspect, Collins Muchira Ngege.
During questioning, Ngege led authorities to two additional suspects, John Brian Kimotho Kamau and Stephen Muchiri Karani, who were subsequently arrested.
Initial investigations reveal that the victim left her residence on 16 November 2025 and failed to return home.
She was subjected to gang rape, violently assaulted, and abandoned in nearby bushes where she succumbed to her injuries.
All three suspects remain in police custody as they undergo processing ahead of their court appearance.
