TikTok user arrested for inciting violence against police

Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo, the man alleged to be behind a viral video inciting violence against police officers and their families, has been arrested.

This was after a video, which was uploaded to his TikTok account, triggered swift action from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

According to the DCI, detectives tracked the suspect to Kimathi House in Nairobi, where he was operating a concealed office under the business name LetaPeleka Logistics.

He was arrested and taken into custody, where he is currently undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment.

In a statement released via their official X account, the DCI stated: “The suspect who had uploaded the video on his TikTok account was traced to Kimathi House where he was operating a discreet office under the name LetaPeleka Logistics. He is currently in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment.”

The investigative agency further warned that inciting violence through social media platforms is a criminal offense that will be met with the full force of the law.

The DCI reiterated it’s commitment to ensuring that digital spaces are not misused to spread hate or threaten the safety of law enforcement officers and their families.
