The National Police Service (NPS) issued a notice of temporary road closure in Nairobi ahead of Kenya’s Harambee Stars CHAN 2024 Quarter-final match against Madagascar at Kasarani Stadium.
“Due to the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), the National Police Service wishes to inform the public of temporary road closures and traffic diversions in Nairobi on Friday, 22 August 2025, as follows.”
Motorists from Nairobi CBD heading to Thika Road (Ruiru/Juja/Thika) will be required to use Kiambu Road at Exit 4; there will be a roadblock at Muthaiga.
Traffic to Mwiki from Thika Superhighway should follow the Ruaka–Baba Ndogo–Lucky Summer–Nairobi River–Mwiki route.
Motorists from Thika, Juja, and Ruiru heading to Nairobi CBD should use Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road; there will be a roadblock at Ruiru Interchange, and those from Githurai heading to Nairobi CBD should use Githurai 44-Kiambu Road.
Those from Nairobi CBD heading to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium (without vehicle access passes), should use the Service Lane at Exit 7 and Exit 8.
“The National Police Service continues to work collaboratively with relevant agencies and urges all motorists to cooperate with officers on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow,” NPS said.
