US President Donald Trump on Saturday April 11, 2026 said that large numbers of completely empty oil tankers were heading to the United States Gulf Coast to load up with oil and gas.
“Massive numbers of completely empty oil tankers, some of the largest anywhere in the World, are heading, right now, to the United States to load up with the best and “sweetest” oil (and gas!) anywhere in the World.”
He said in a post on his Truth Social page.
Trump further stated that the country now has the largest amount of oil. “We have more oil than the next two largest oil economies combined – and higher quality. We are waiting for you. Quick turnaround!”
In an earlier post, Trump had indicated that the tankers, each with a 2 million barrel capacity, to pick up crude oil desperately needed by markets that have been impacted following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The US, Israel – Iran war has disrupted oil supply on the Strait of Hormuz, a major artery for global crude trade, in what has further caused energy shocks.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad Saturday where he met Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif in the much awaited US Iran negotiations.
