Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo has declared that the party is fully prepared for its upcoming engagements, unveiling a new party DJ following the exit of Raila Odinga’s longtime hype man, DJ Spider.
Sharing photos on her X account, Omanyo captioned them: “Tuko na DJ.”
The brief but pointed message appeared to address recent claims that ODM faced technical hitches during the Linda Ground rally in Siaya, with critics alleging the party lacked a DJ after Spider reportedly aligned himself with the rival faction associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Omanyo’s post comes at a politically sensitive moment for the party, which has been grappling with internal divisions following Sifuna’s ouster as Secretary General.
ODM fallout
The fallout has seen ODM split into two distinct factions.
On one side is Linda Ground, aligned with ODM party leader Oburu Oginga, on the other is Linda Mwananchi, spearheaded by Edwin Sifuna alongside Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
Linda Mwananchi has already rolled out rallies across four counties.
The tour was launched in Busia County before moving to Kitengela in Kajiado County, Mbale town in Vihiga County, and later Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega County.

Speaking during an interview with KTN, Babu Owino drew sharp distinctions between the two camps.
“Linda Ground is an affordable ODM. It is the ‘Linda Tumbo,’” he said. “Linda Ground wants power, while Linda Mwananchi wants empowerment for the people. Linda Ground are retrogressive forces but Linda Mwananchi are progressive minds.”
More than music
While Omanyo’s “Tuko na DJ” remark may appear lighthearted, it underscores a deeper message, that the party machinery under the Linda Ground faction remains intact and operational despite defections.
In the high-energy world of Kenyan political rallies, a DJ is more than just entertainment; they set the tone, rally supporters, and energize crowds.
By publicly introducing a new DJ, Omanyo signaled continuity and resilience within the party ranks.
As the rivalry between Linda Ground and Linda Mwananchi intensifies, even symbolic gestures, like unveiling a new DJ, are becoming statements of political positioning.
