For years, the Tulwet chief’s office in Bureti, Kericho County, has been operating without a toilet, a situation that has posed challenges to both staff and residents seeking services.
That reality changed on September 13, 2025, following the official launch of the office’s first-ever toilet facility.
The project, initiated by a well-wisher, was unveiled by Engineer Robert Korir, who emphasized that the new facility is part of ongoing efforts to improve working conditions at the chief’s office.
“This is a step towards creating a more dignified and conducive environment for both the staff and the community members who come here daily,” Korir said during the ceremony.
Despite welcoming the development, locals were quick to point out that the office still grapples with several infrastructural gaps.
They cited the lack of electricity, an incomplete ceiling, and unfinished fittings as major concerns that continue to affect service delivery.
Residents are now calling on the government to prioritize the completion and full equipping of the office to ensure it effectively serves the needs of the community.
