Leaders and ODM party delegates from Turkana County visited Bondo to mourn and celebrate the life of Raila Odinga, the revered opposition leader and icon of Kenya’s democratic struggle.
Led by Turkana North MP Ekwom Nabuin who is also the ODM chairman for Turkana County, the delegation expressed deep sorrow over Raila’s passing, while reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the ideals that he championed.
He declared that as the people of Turkana, their love for the late Mr. Odinga and his family will not stop, adding that they shall continue being in the ODM party.
Turkana County’s ODM deputy chairperson Abraham Losinyen Ekai echoed Nabuin’s sentiments, emphasizing Raila’s national legacy and Turkana’s enduring loyalty.
The Deputy ODM chairman said that they look forward to supporting Dr. Oburu Oginga who was appointed as the interim party leader and sustaining the party so that Raila Odinga’s legacy remains alive for many years to come.
In addition to the delegation from Turkana County, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi led a group of former youth leaders who had worked closely with the late Mr. Raila Odinga during the 2007 “Vijana na Raila” movement. The group visited his gravesite to pay their respects and honor his legacy.
Speaking at the site, George Orer reflected on the profound influence Mr. Odinga had on their political journey. He noted that as young leaders, they drew inspiration from his unwavering commitment to democracy and social justice.
Mr. Odinga’s son, Raila Odinga Junior who received the guests expressed deep gratitude for the continued outpouring of love and remembrance and extended an open invitation to all Kenyans to join the family in mourning and celebrating the life of a man who had become a symbol of resilience and national unity.
