TV47 journalists made a bold mark at the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) 2025, clinching top honors for outstanding storytelling and impactful reporting.
Linda Alela, a prominent face at TV47, walked away with the National Cohesion Developing Story Reporting Award for her gripping piece “Quest for Lasting Peace in Kapedo.” The report delved into the heart of conflict-prone Kapedo, capturing the struggles and hopes of residents striving for peace in a region long marred by insecurity.

“This award is not just mine—it belongs to the people of Kapedo,” Alela said during her acceptance speech. “Their resilience and voices are the real story.”
In the Tourism Reporting category, Charles Muthoni emerged victorious, recognized for his in-depth coverage that spotlighted Kenya’s tourism recovery post-pandemic and the untold stories of local communities sustaining the industry.

“It’s an honor to tell stories that reflect our culture and the strength of our tourism sector,” Muthoni remarked. “This win is a reminder that local journalism matters.”
Meanwhile, Lenox Sengre was named First Runner-Up in the Best Investigative Reporting category for his hard-hitting exposé, “The Moi University Error,” which unearthed administrative oversights and stirred national conversation around higher education institution’s governance.
