Police officers in Nairobi have arrested two suspects linked to a robbery with violence incident in South B area, recovering a motorcycle and several mobile phones believed to have been stolen.
In a statement on Thursday, March 26, the National Police Service said the incident occurred near Mater Hospital Bridge when a member of the public was confronted by two individuals riding a motorcycle.
“The suspects robbed the victim of a high-end mobile phone before attempting to flee the scene,” the statement read in part.
According to police, officers on patrol responded swiftly after receiving a distress call, triggering a pursuit that culminated in the arrest of the two suspects within the vicinity.
The quick response is credited with preventing the suspects from escaping and possibly committing further crimes.
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered three mobile phones, including the one reported stolen from the victim.
The motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime was also seized as part of the ongoing investigations.
“The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to appear in court to face the relevant charges,” the police confirmed.
The National Police Service noted that efforts to curb criminal activities in Nairobi and its environs have been intensified, with increased patrols and enhanced rapid response mechanisms.
Authorities have also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and collaborate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities. Citizens can reach the police through emergency numbers 999 and 911, or via the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line.
Police say community cooperation remains key in the fight against crime.
