Two men arrested for defiling a 12-year-old school girl in Mombasa

Detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU) in Mombasa have arrested Anthony Jakaa Muganda and Reginald Wamalwa for the crime of defiling a minor.

On what should have been an ordinary morning, a 12-year-old orphan stood at a bus stop, waiting to board a vehicle to school.

Then came Muganda, masquerading as a Good Samaritan, offering her a ride under the guise of kindness.

“But kindness was not his intent. In a horrifying betrayal of trust, he diverted from the path to her school and took her to his home, where he subjected her to unspeakable violations.

“He then threatened her, ensuring her silence, dropping her back at the bus stop, in her school uniform as if nothing had happened,” police reported.

Just when the minor thought she could begin to grasp what had happened, fate handed her yet another cruel twist.

Another man, Reginald Wamalwa, noticed her, confused, distressed, and utterly helpless. But instead of offering true refuge, he seized the opportunity to exploit her fragile state.

He took her to his house and indecently assaulted her, deepening the trauma she had already endured.

He then escorted her to the police station, pretending to report the first child predator (Muganda), only for the girl to bravely disclose that he, too, had violated her.

Wamalwa was immediately arrested on the spot and arraigned before the Shanzu Law Courts.

A manhunt for Muganda was launched. Fueled by the sheer horror of what had transpired, AHTCPU detectives pursued him tirelessly.

Through forensic leads, they trailed him to his hideout in Nyanchwa, Kisii town, where he was finally cornered and arrested.

Muganda was escorted back to Mombasa, where he was processed and arraigned before the Shanzu Law Courts on Monday May 19, 2025.
