Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects who were attempting to sell a firearm illegally in Kakuma, Turkana County.
The DCI reported that police officers arrested 27-year-old Fredrick Lokwar and his 34-year-old accomplice, Calvin Etiir, who were reportedly on a mission to sell the illegal firearm.
Acting on intelligence, the officers trailed the duo to Lucy Village in Kakuma, where their undercover business venture met an abrupt end.
“A swift search turned up a Ceska blow mini pistol and a magazine loaded with three rounds,” DCI stated.
Police are still interrogating the suspects as they prepare to arraign them in court.
The incident comes a few days after police arrested three notorious robbers over a robbery incident that occured on February 23, 2025 at Sanergy Limited Company EPZ in Athi River.
In a statement on May 12, 2025, DCI reported that Kelvin Baraza Andayi alias Kevoo, Titus Mutuku Maingi alias Tush, and Jack Wilshere Kimathi alias Jack, were arrested after a well-coordinated police operation.
“The trio were arrested after a painstaking probe that traced their footsteps back to a robbery with violence incident that unfolded at Sanergy Limited Company EPZ in Kinanie, Athi-River on February 23, 2025,” read part of DCI report.
On that day, armed with crude weapons and joined by two accomplices still on the run, they stormed the facility.
They rounded up workers, assaulted them with ruthless force, and held them hostage. The employees were left battered and bound as the robbers made off with their loot: a fridge, a microwave, two lorry batteries and a generator.
