Two suspects arrested with 135 litres of chang’aa in Kiambu

Police officers from Kiambu County Headquarters conducted a crackdown on illicit brews in Kwambira, Limuru Sub-County, on August 5, 2025, arresting two suspects.

During the operation, 135 litres of chang’aa—packed in one-litre polythene sachets and stored in sacks—were seized from one suspect’s residence. The second suspect was caught selling the illicit brew to the public.

Both suspects were taken into custody awaiting court appearance, while the confiscated chang’aa was secured as evidence.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the production and sale of illicit alcohol nationwide.

Elsewhere in Meru County, a joint operation by officers from the Kianjai Police Post, area chief, and other national Government officers was conducted in Kianjai, targeting the sale and distribution of illicit alcohol.

The crackdown resulted in the arrest of one individual found in possession of 380 litres of “Muna”. The suspect was placed in custody pending processing and court arraignment.

At the same time, the National Police Service expressed commitment to intensify efforts to combat the production and consumption of unregulated alcoholic products, which endanger public health and safety.
