Two women arrested while transporting 100 litres of chang’aa in Kakamega

Police officers in Matungu, Kakamega County, have arrested three people, including two women and their male driver, who were found transporting about 100 litres of chang’aa in a saloon car.

The motor vehicle and the illicit brew were seized. The suspects are in custody awaiting arraignment.

“The National Police Service remains committed to the fight against illicit brews , which endanger public health and safety,” NPS said in a statement.

Elsewhere, police officers from Mwingi Police Station conducted an operation targeting illicit brews and narcotic drugs within Mwingi township, Kitui County. They arrested one suspect who was transporting Cannabis sativa on a motorcycle.

The suspect was placed in custody pending a court appearance. Both the motorcycle and the drugs were impounded and held securely as evidence while the operation is ongoing.
