Eldoret City is alive with colour and celebration as it hosts the 98th edition of the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival 2025, one of the most vibrant and heavily attended festivals in recent years.
The successful rollout has been credited to the leadership of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim and the organising efforts of Eng. Lucy Ng’endo Njoroge, the County Executive Committee Member for Education, Vocational Training, Culture, Gender and Social Protection.

Uasin Gishu shines as Eldoret hosts 98th Kenya Music and Cultural Festival
More than 30 counties are participating in this year’s festival, marking a significant milestone for Uasin Gishu County as it cements its place as a national cultural hub.
Eng. Lucy Ng’endo, a JKUAT-trained Soil, Water and Environmental Engineer from Burnt Forest, has continued to demonstrate notable impact across the portfolios she has led.
Before taking over her current docket, she played a central role in talent development initiatives, including the establishment of the Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament bfrom grassroots to county and KYISA levels as well as championing the CAC African Cycling Championship, the first of its kind in Kenya.
Uasin Gishu’s presence at this year’s festival is exceptional. Through Lucy’s mobilisation efforts, over 6,000 participants competed at the county level, with 4,900 qualifying for the national stage ensuring representation in every competitive category of the festival.
Beyond the festivities, Eldoret continues to stand out as the only city in Kenya without street families an achievement attributed to the County Department of Social Protection under Lucy’s ministry.
More than 100 street children and families have been integrated into rescue centres where they receive shelter, meals, and healthcare support.

Governor Bii’s administration has also earned countrywide recognition for employing 1,466 ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms one of the largest investments in early childhood education by a county government.
Further, the governor has empowered the education department to distribute milk to 34,294 ECDE learners every Tuesday and Thursday across 692 centres, while simultaneously overseeing 95 ongoing construction projects aimed at improving learning infrastructure.
