United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar on Thursday led a campaign tour in Hagardera Refugee Camp, Fafi Ward, where he drummed up support for the party’s candidate, Diriye Maalim Ibrahim, ahead of the November 27, 2025 by-election.
Speaking during meetings with local residents, Omar reiterated that Diriye is the party’s sole flag bearer in the mini-poll.

He urged the electorate in Fafi and the wider Garissa region to back the ruling party, citing government projects underway in the region, including road improvements, expanded access to water, and ongoing reforms in the national ID registration process.
Omar said recent changes had eased documentation challenges long faced by Muslim communities, adding that citizens from the region have increasingly been appointed to public service roles.
The UDA Secretary General encouraged residents of northern Kenya to register as voters, saying political participation remained key to shaping development priorities in the region.
Diriye Maalim, meanwhile, appealed for a peaceful campaign period and urged residents to turn out on election day.

Omar was accompanied by several leaders, among them Saku MP Ali Rasso, Iftiin Ward MCA Musdaf Abdirashid Ahmed, Jarajila Ward MCA Noor Sheikh Farah, and UDA Executive Director Nicodemus Bore.
