The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delivered a clean sweep in Thursday’s mini-polls, winning all four contested seats.
The most closely watched race was in Isiolo South, where UDA’s Mohamed Tubi secured a landslide victory with 7,352 votes. The parliamentary by-election was triggered by the death of the area MP, Tubi Bidu Mohamed, in November 2025.
Mohamed Tubi defeated his elder sister, Bina Tubi of the Jubilee Party, who garnered 634 votes. Isaack Fayo of the National Economic Development Party trailed with 44 votes. The contest attracted attention due to the sibling rivalry, but Tubi’s bid was boosted by strong backing from local leaders and clan elders, culminating in a decisive win amid relatively low voter turnout.
UDA’s dominance extended to the ward-level contests.
In Evurore Ward, Embu County, Duncan Muratia won with 7,853 votes, defeating Albert Muchira of the Democratic Party of Kenya, who received 1,940 votes.
In Muminji Ward, also in Embu County, Peterson Njeru garnered 3,207 votes to defeat Boniface Ngari of the Devolution Empowerment Party, who polled 2,232 votes.
Meanwhile, in West Kabras Ward, Kakamega County, Elphas Shalakha clinched victory with 3,317 votes, beating Bramwel Khaemba of the Democratic Coalition Party, who secured 2,640 votes.
The IEBC reported that voting was largely peaceful across polling stations in Isiolo, Embu and Kakamega counties, with results announced at the station level and published on the commission’s online portal.
President William Ruto congratulated UDA candidates who won in Isiolo South, West Kabras Ward, Muminji Ward, and Evurore Ward during yesterday’s by-elections.
He hailed their victories as a milestone in building a strong national party, emphasizing UDA’s vision to advance Kenya’s development and move the country toward first-world standards.
