The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate, David Ndakwa, has emerged victorious in the high-stakes Malava parliamentary by-election, securing the seat that fell vacant following the death of the late Malulu Injendi. However, the win is shadowed by strong allegations of electoral malpractice raised by his main opponent.
Ndakwa was officially declared the winner by Returning Officer Salim Abdala after securing 21,564 votes. He narrowly edged out the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) candidate, Seth Panyako, who garnered a significant 20,210 votes.
The remaining candidates trailed with Wilberforce Tuvei (Kenya Moja Movement) managing 626 votes, Shivakale Jason with 390 votes, James Angatia 243, Ben Nalwa 215, Edgar Busiega (DCP) 209, George Ngaira 148, and Joab Manyasi 70 votes.

In his acceptance speech, a triumphant David Ndakwa pledged to ensure the smooth continuation of development in the constituency.
“I will ensure that all the developments started are completed first before launching new ones,” he assured residents after receiving his certificate.
Ndakwa committed to making continuity his guiding principle, vowing that his primary responsibility will be to safeguard the legacy of the late Malulu Injendi.
He also used the platform to express his appreciation to President William Ruto for the opportunity to run on the ruling UDA party ticket, noting the confidence the party had placed in his leadership.
During the campaign, Ndakwa had been keen to project an image of peace and optimism, stating he had “pursued peace throughout” despite alleged provocations and had conducted extensive, issue-driven campaigns.
